Here's a few of Kate's 9 month pictures. Grace was a little upset, well, a lot upset, that she wasn't in them. We tried to explain that when she was 9 months old she had her own pictures but she still wanted to be in Kate's. Grace decided next time she had her pictures, Grace would share with Kate and let her be in them :) She did come around and do a great job trying to get Kate to smile.

Fairy Tale Ball
A local nonprofit had a great fundraiser called the Fairy Tale Ball. The girls dressed as princesses and Jack and I wore our finest to meet all the characters. Grace had a hard time deciding what to wear- she tried on all of these... She finally decided on what she decided was "Snow White." For someone who is usually a perfectionist I'm not sure why she thought she was Snow White but she was beautiful as was Kate as Sleeping Beauty.
Grace stared at this young lady most of the evening. "That not Tinkerbell- look at her hair!" Finally as we were about to leave, Grace demanded to meet her and find out just who this girl was. She told Grace she was "Tinkerbell" and Grace just gave her a strange look... Oh well- we had a great time and can't wait until next year!
As soon as we walked in we met Belle and the Beast
Things were going well until Grace saw the characters from Star Wars. I really thought we were going to have to leave after being there only a few minutes. I'll admit- they did look a little scary. Apparently there were several others scared of them so they moved into the corner where they stayed for the rest of the evening. Grace relaxed a little bit but kept her eye on them the entire night- especially when her daddy and Kate took a picture with them.
Grace loved this carriage. She loved driving it and "riding" in it. We spent about half the night there...
Kate was very interested in knowing what was coming next The food was very cool. Grace's favorite was the candy "bar"
The girls met Goldilocks and got to feel all the bears' beds to find the one that was "just right"Grace and Peter Pan. She said he "looked a little different from the book." As we were struggling to think of what to say, she answered it for herself- "I think it was his hair." Ok then... Kate was very interested in the Gingerbread House There were lots of characters!
We all know Grace LOVED the dancing. She kicked off her shoes like a real woman in high heels. The best part of the evening was when she decided to try the line dances. She's wasn't half bad. She was barking orders at me about what to do next after watching everyone else. It was hysterical. Next year we will know to bring the video camera. Everyone had a great time! New Trick
Kate's First Race
The girls and I volunteered with Hands On at a Baby and Children's expo. I thought the girls would like all the activities for kids and free food. We were there two minutes and Grace had a snow cone, ice cream and a balloon! We finally got to our booth and we were having a good time with Ms. Candi and Mr. Bob when the Barber's cow, who was about 200 yards away, was spotted by Grace...Game over for Grace :(Mr. Bob was awesome trying to distract Grace although it took several hours for her to settle down. The only thing that turned her around was the big race!Kate had been finding lots of things to keep her busy- most of which got her in trouble :)Next to our booth was the diaper derby and we decided to enter Kate for her first race! (sorry these pictures aren't the best, I didn't realize this was a camera event, these are from my phone)That picture could have been taken at any point during the first few minutes since this is where she stayed... Bob, Grace and I did everything we could to get her to come to us but the only thing that worked was this little boy who came back after finishing his race to get her..About 5 minutes into the 20 second race Grace stepped in to give her a little pep talkAlmost there...Yeh! Great job Kate! 10 minutes!
Party Season is Back
Apparently we have no friends that were born in the summer or we just got a little break in our invites but we are back! The girls were excited to be invited to their friend Harrison's birthday party. (Harrison is the one I have picked out for Grace to marry.) This was the first party that Kate has been to that she was really able to play and she had a blast. Her friend Drew made the mistake of getting into the ball pit with her....Grace had a great time too. She is usually pretty passe' at these parties but she has really come out of her shell and participated in all the activities. They have this "mini roller coaster" cart with track that we have seen quite a few times at these parties. Grace rode it one time and has been terrified of it ever since. She usually sits with all the kids in line, gets on the cart and then promptly asks to be taken down, she doesn't want to do it. I took my standard picture of her at the top and then turned to watch something else, assuming she was about to ask to get down. I turned just in time to see her flying past me smiling. We couldn't believe it! No picture, I really never thought she would do it.Kate found a new love- the parachute!Bubbles!
