You loyal blog readers know of the tradition I have with my siblings to make the birthday cake the night before the party. Kate LOVES her Grover so it was an obvious choice for a party theme. Except Grover has never been mainstream popular and therefore, there are no birthday party supplies for a Grover party. Which made this our biggest challenge yet- no cake pan for Grover. My plan was just to do the face in a round pan. Jack and Jeff had other plans....
They spent about an hour designing the cake, reviewing others who had posted pictures of their Grover cakes online (well, really they just made fun of them) and then measuring our cake for the perfect scale. Sarah and I did make the actual cake and we mixed the colors but we were not allowed to do the decorating, only the two perfectionists were allowed to touch....
Success! The discussions did get a little too serious about a J&J cake shop but the cake turned out great!
