Heading to the "Beach"

Jack had a conference down in Mobile on the bay. We told Grace we were going to "the beach" because I knew she had read enough books about the beach to know what to expect. She talked about going to the beach non-stop for the two weeks before we went. She must have packed her sand pail 10 times. Every time we picked up Grace from school her teachers told us about how Grace was telling everyone she was going to the beach. Luckily the resort we went to had a man made "beach" on the Mobile Bay so Grace was not going to be disappointed.

The first night we were there they had a family bbq pool party. It was a little wild due to the seagulls flying overhead. Grace was freaked out by them and I'll admit they were a little scary. If you put your plate down next to you for one second, they literally swarmed you and took your food two seconds later.
When all the food was gone the birds settled down and so did Grace and we were able to enjoy the pool. As you can see there were parts that were very shallow and the girls- especially Kate- loved it.
After the pool we went to "the beach." I'll admit, I was secretly hoping Grace would hate the sand as much as I do so we wouldn't have to deal with it. And when she was 18 months old she did hate it. Nope- she loved it! Couldn't wait to go back in the morning!
